Morrisville Food Co-op

The Morrisville Food Co-op is a community-owned food market located in the historic downtown of Morristown, Vermont. The Co-op is committed to the health and wellbeing of people, emphasizing fresh, local and organic products and supporting a dynamic community, open to all. It currently features products from nearly 100 providers from within the 100-mile range. In FY 2023, more than 42 percent of the Co-op’s total sales were from Vermont-made products.

The Co-op began as a vision in the spring of 2011 following a series of meetings hosted by the Vermont Council on Rural Development for the Lamoille Valley Region. Outdoor renovation was completed in 2016, followed by construction on the interior space the next year. The Morrisville Food Co-op officially opened on September 30, 2017.

Once open, membership grew steadily, particularly after an annual membership option was introduced. The Co-op focused on expanding relationships with vendors and worked to offer prices that the surrounding community could afford. The COVID pandemic brought new challenges and opportunities.

Supporting local growers, farms and producers, the Co-op sells everything from fresh produce and locally raised meats to ready-made meals and frozen goods, while also strengthening the local food system and the local economy. The Co-op now has more than 2,200 members, hosts a popular annual community Corn Roast and has annually donated thousands of dollars to local not-for-profit organizations through its Round It Up For Change program.
