SLO Food Co-op

It all began for SLO Food Co-op back in the mid 1970s, when a few people got together to form a buying club. They first gathered in a member’s garage, but by 1979 the group, known as Questa Co-op, had moved into a small building that would be home for more than 30 years.

In 2013 the Co-op, now known as SLO Food Co-op, moved to our current larger location. With 3,500 square feet of retail space we nearly quadrupled our square footage, greatly expanding all departments and are able to offer a better selection and more variety of goods and services, including prepared foods.

We feature a great selection of fresh, organic and local produce, meats and locally caught seafood, along with many local wines, beers and cider. We have a full selection of grocery, refrigerated and frozen foods, as well as a great selection of body care, supplements, vitamins and beauty aids in our wellness department. We are striving to reduce our carbon footprint by offering over 500 bulk foods and herbs to choose from.

We have over 1,100 active member-owners and a dedicated Board and staff committed to fulfilling our mission. SLO Food Co-op's mission is to provide our members with products and information that empower health and well-being, supporting our community through buying from local suppliers and farmers. We promote organic and non-GMO standards.

Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are ready to assist you; we look forward to your visit. SLO Food Co-op, where everyone is welcome to shop. Real food, real people!
