Started in a Davis living room in 1972, the Davis Food Co-op has grown into a full-service food cooperative owned by and operated for over 11,000 local households. The Co-op is known around the region as a trusted source for natural, organic and locally produced foods. From Capay Valley organic produce to Sonoma County organic chickens, the Co-op strives to offer the best of northern California's wholesome foods, season to season.
Though we feature natural and organic foods, we understand that these choices aren't always familiar or affordable to everybody. That's why we serve our entire community by selling a full range of foods. Whether you're shopping conventional or organic, budget or gourmet, we know what we sell, where it came from and how it got here. Just ask!
Our Mission
We build community with food and cooperative principles. As a community-owned business, the Davis Food Co-op serves the community beyond offering great foods. You'll find us at local schools, educating kids about whole grains and seasonal produce. You'll see us at the Davis Farmer's Market, handing out samples and recipes you can make yourself with local, in-season produce. You may spot us behind the scenes at community events like the Davis Turkey Trot, the Village Feast, the Red Cross Heroes Luncheon, the California Kids' Triathlon and the UC Davis Campus Farmer's Market. You might even find us feeding wholesome homemade dinners to over 800 at the annual Holiday Meal. Our profit begins in our community and our profit belongs to our community.
