Fare Share Food Cooperative is a community-owned natural foods store, open to everyone and rooted in cooperation and shared benefit since 1978. Located in the heart of Norway, Maine, we are a place to shop, meet and stay connected to local farmers, producers and community.
We prioritize organically grown products, favoring regenerative and humane practices whenever possible, with a focus on minimal ingredients, no unnecessary chemicals and carefully vetted items. Our store includes a strong bulk section with a wide selection of fresh herbs and spices and a thoughtfully curated supplement selection that offers high-quality options without overwhelm. We continue to expand our offerings of local, fair trade and independently produced goods, many sourced from Maine and New England.
Owned by over 1,200 members, the Co-op supports the local economy by working with nearby farms, producers and small businesses. A strong volunteer base, along with our board, committees and engaged member-owners, helps sustain daily operations and growth. Through our Co-op Food Fund and Discount Grocery program, we work to make healthy, high-quality food more accessible and affordable to everyone in Norway and the surrounding communities.
