Value and Values: NCG Kicks Off Its Biggest Promotion of the Year

National Co+op Grocers to offer savings on Field Day brand and support for Indigenous foodways with a donation to NATIFS this November.

Saint Paul, Minn. -- As the season of gathering approaches, National Co+op Grocers (NCG) is giving shoppers more reasons to fill their carts at their local food co-op this November. From November 4–17, NCG’s 241 community-owned food co-op locations will run their biggest promotion of the year, offering additional discounts on more than 70 seasonal and everyday Field Day products, from pantry staples to holiday baking essentials.

With grocery budgets stretched and holiday tables to fill, the promotion is designed to help shoppers save on quality certified organic and non-GMO staples while stocking up before the holiday rush. Field Day is NCG’s private label equivalent line, offering a high-quality, lower-cost alternative to brand-name products, and is part of the organization’s Co+op Basics program, which features everyday prices up to 30% lower on more than 365 items. Field Day sales have grown 75% over the past five years, reflecting a broader trend of consumers increasingly relying on private label brands, especially younger shoppers and across every income bracket.

What Shoppers Can Expect During This Year’s Promotion

Stocked alongside comparable national brands throughout the store, the Field Day promotion spans 70+ products across the pantry, available at the lowest prices of the year, including:

  • Field Day Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Field Day Organic Broth
  • Field Day Pure Organic Pumpkin
  • Field Day Organic Cannellini, Black, and Garbanzo Beans
  • Field Day Organic Sweetened Cranberries

At a food co-op, supporting local and small businesses is a mindset that stretches beyond the holiday season into every day and every meal. Food co-ops are locally owned and rooted in the communities they serve, working with local and regional growers and producers alongside national offerings like Field Day. Shoppers who fill their holiday carts at a co-op are supporting a locally owned grocer, and the wider network of producers and neighbors that grocer works with, with every trip down the aisle.

“The holidays put real pressure on a grocery budget, and no one should have to choose between quality and affordability to get through them,” said Tandy Harvey, CEO of National Co+op Grocers. “Our November Field Day promotion lets our shoppers stock a holiday pantry with organic, trusted staples at some of our lowest prices of the year — all while keeping those dollars invested in a locally owned business that gives back to their community.”

For the third year in a row, NCG is donating $0.05 from every Field Day product sold on promotion during the sales period to North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NATIFS), an Indigenous-led organization dedicated to strengthening Native foodways. NCG expects the promotion to generate roughly $50,000 for the organization.

“The November Field Day promotion is one of our shoppers’ favorite times to stock up before the holidays, and this year it means even more,” said Liza Doppelt, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, National Co+op Grocers. “Knowing that part of every sale is going to NATIFS to support Native foodways gives our owners one more reason to feel good about where their grocery dollars are going.”

To help shoppers put Field Day products to work at their own holiday table, NCG is also featuring a seasonal recipe, Maple Sage Roasted Vegetables, built around several Field Day pantry staples.
